This multinational company describes itself as a global specialist on Energy Management. With their vast experience, they will solve the challenges of the INVADE pilots.

“Schneider Electric is a global company with core competences in many fields, but the common denominator is Energy Management.  We describe ourselves as the global specialist in that particular field“, says Per Gjerløw, Sales Director Energy & Utilities at Schneider Electric and project coordinator in INVADE.

Schneider Electric was created in 1836 as a producer of iron and steel. Along the way, the company has contributed to the transformation of industries with an innovative, international and responsible mind-set. Today, the company has operations in over 100 countries and 144.000 employees.

Sustainable solutions

Gjerløw explains that Schneider’s mission is to help people make the most of their energy. The goal is to create connected technologies and solutions to manage energy in ways that are safe, reliable, efficient and sustainable.

“We turn our products into solutions, and manage these solutions with control systems and software that we develop ourselves. We have our own integration platform, called EcoStruxure, which is used to link different products and solutions to innovative systems for the benefit of the end-users”, the sales director emphasizes. He adds:

“In the INVADE project we will work with innovative solutions, and we will put products together based on new needs. We will also take part in developing business models based on the future needs in the energy marked, which will engage the consumers”.

Schneider’s role in INVADE

Through INVADE, Schneider Electric wishes to contribute to a sustainable development on end-user level, as well as draw from the experience gained by engaging the end-users.

“Alongside the other partners, we will create something new and innovative, which will result in great advantages for the energy market, and create positive ripple effects for transformation of energy companies, industrial construction work, housing and cities.”

Schneider Electric is responsible for the communication platform (WP7) and the pilot implementation (WP10), but will also contribute in other WP tasks with their experience in flexibility management systems, standardization and communication protocols.

“We will use our global experience to solve the challenges of the pilots. We are responsible for both the platform and integration between the products, solutions and control systems, in addition to the development and coordination of the pilots”, notes Gjerløw. He elaborates:

“Schneider Electric contributes by putting existing infrastructure and new products together, turning them into solutions that meet the needs of the end-users. We also contribute with important knowledge on how energy management can reduce greenhouse gas emissions from power and transportation industries”.
