As a software company with expertise in energy software, eSmart Systems wants to be a part of the energy revolution – and sees INVADE as the perfect opportunity.

eSmart Systems was founded in 2012, originating from the renowned IFE environment (Institute for Energy Technology). The company develops digital intelligence for the energy industry and smart communities, and describe themselves as the provider of next-generation IT solutions.

Since 2012, the company has grown rapidly and currently consists of almost 80 employees with offices in Norway, Sweden, Denmark, the UK, the US, Singapore and Germany.

Stacked with experience

“In eSmart Systems we have a unique combination of energy market domain knowledge, data engineering competence and digital intelligence competence. This places us in the forefront of addressing the opportunities provided through the Internet of Energy Things revolution, which is taking place in the energy markets”, explains Henrik Løvfold, Project Director at eSmart Systems and project coordinator for INVADE.

The Norwegian company is based on more than 20 years of international experience in establishing and operating knowledge based, leading IT and energy related companies targeting global markets.

“Our solutions have broad application possibilities that give grid operators insight into their distribution network, make energy trade between local market prosumers possible, and monitoring city air quality easy”, Løvfold adds.

Facing the revolution

eSmart Systems operates with the belief that with the introduction of smart grid technologies, including distributed storage, the energy industry is about to face a major change; a revolution.

“As a software company with expertise in energy software, eSmart Systems wants to be part of this revolution and sees INVADE as perfect opportunity to further develop, test and verify the next generation energy software”, says the Project Director. He elaborates:

“Enabling further growth of renewable production is a key for continued reduction of climate gas emissions. eSmart Systems believes that smart grid technologies, including storage, provide the necessary tools to secure this growth. This makes INVADE a top priority project for us”.

eSmart Systems’ role in INVADE

eSmart Systems is responsible for the integrated INVADE platform (Work Package 8), and is also heavily involved the overall INVADE architecture (Work Package 4), the communications platform (Work Package 7), as well as the pilots (Work Package 10).

“We are active in most work packages in INVADE. Our primary responsibility is, however, the implementation of the cloud-based Integrated INVADE platform. The platform provides the possibility for an effective managing of flexibility, batteries and renewable assets in the power grid”, explains Løvfold.
