New Energy Projects GmbH (NewEn), with its headquarters in Bremen, Germany, has 10 employees and is a subsidiary of the Diersch & Schröder (DS) group.

Ever since its founding in 1920, DS has evolved from a lubricant and mineral oil trading company to a modern energy company. In addition to its Mineral Oil and Green Energy divisions, the DS Group includes business divisions for Chemicals and IT services.
NewEn bases its actions on careful use of resources and assuming responsibility in the area of community service. In this context, the company is one of the first players in Germany that develops, manages, and implements renewable electricity projects with a so called “NewEn Village” concept. Based on the local, modular implementation and integration of electricity (and heath) generation from wind, photovoltaic and biomass, and geothermal installations, the company intends to establish electricity self-sufficient villages.
Based on a close cooperation with local authorities and citizens, cooperative structures are set-up in order to allow local residents to invest even with small amounts of money into the renewable generation projects. The integration of a significant number of local electricity generation sites fosters security of supply and independence of energy imports.
NewEn holds key competences as an active, independent planning company in Germany. In the field of renewable energies, NewEn Projects combines know-how along the entire value chain in the areas of wind and solar energy, photovoltaic, geothermal and biomass and energy efficient building. As a provider of self-sufficient energy and energy-optimized solutions for municipalities, NewEn Projects, for example, accompanies communities in all project phases and supports them in choosing the right energy and beyond. This leads to a long-term experience in local stakeholder management and resident motivation and activation for renewable electricity projects.
Tasks in the project
Within the INVADE Project, NewEn is responsible to find and operate a demo-site in Germany. Organise any required construction and reconstruction as well as the communication between participants on-site and the project partners.
